During your child’s laser hair removal appointment, we will start off by answering any questions you or your child may have about the procedure. After performing an assessment of your child’s health and skin issues, here is what will happen next:

A couple of days before your appointment, your child will have to shave the desired areas where the laser will be applied. Laser hair removal therapy can be used on any part of the body where no tattoos, irritation, or open wounds are located. The common areas teenagers choose for laser therapy removal are the legs, back, face, underarms, arms, bikini line, and chest.

Once in our clinic, we will ask your child to put on a clinical robe and lay comfortably in our examination beds. 

Before we get started, we will test a small area of your child’s skin with the laser to ensure no adverse reactions appear and to see if any adjustments are needed. Aerolase Neo Elite® does not need any gel application beforehand, making the procedure gentler on the skin. 

As our technician starts the procedure, the laser will target the hair follicles, causing them to start falling out after a few appointments.

Once one of our healthcare providers has applied the laser therapy to the desired areas, we recommend your child follows these aftercare tips:

• Wear sunscreen daily and reapply it every couple of hours to protect the tender skin from the sun. 
• Use the over-the-counter creams and ointments we suggested during your appointment as directed. 
• If discomfort increases, use an ice pack wrapped in a washcloth to reduce irritation. 
• Avoid using perfumes, deodorants, and body lotions until the skin completely heals. 
• Avoid using a tanning bed for at least two weeks after the treatment. 
• Do not shave or wax the area if it still appears swollen or red. 

It is important to note that depending on the area treated, your child will need multiple treatment sessions before the hair is completely removed from the targeted area of their body.
